DAY 5

I love this place. Day Five was Dallas/Fort Worth. We rolled into town in the afternoon, and met up with the folks from DMA Solutions (@thecoreblog). We LOVE these guys. Not only did they introduce us to a lot of our awesome backers in the fresh food industry, they also are dedicated to bringing salad bars to public schools in Texas and across the United States. Check it out here: http://thecore.dma-solutions.com/?p=8616 We met with the DMA team Dan’l (@whynotfresh), Brock (@brocknemecek), Molly (@MollyMcGrath12) and Mackenzie (@untmmichel), who had cold beer and AMAZING food...

DAY 4

DAY 4

We were planning on getting into Austin around 9 or 10 am on Day Four. We got in at 1pm. This had a lot to do with the Grand Canyon being a complete zoo, me being bad at math, time zones being a thing, and…I don’t really know.  Maybe an alien abduction? I have no idea. But it took us forever. We headed to Congress Ave. to meet up with some tweeps at Guero’s Taco Bar (@guerostacobar). We talked to Ryan Criswell (@sayyesAustin), who says yes to pretty much anything, then blogs about it at http://sayyesaustin.info . Seriously. She’s gone to a wizard party, danced in a rap video,...

‘Follow Friday the Film’ documentary project to visit York Posted on June 29, 2012 by Erin McCracken I’ve been following (get it?) this news for a month or two now. You know aboutFollow Friday, the weekly Twitter ritual in which you give digital shout outs to people who follow you. Well, Erin Faulk and her team got the idea to make a documentary project about these online connections with “Follow Friday the Film.” They set out June 26. Their mission: Travel more than 8,000 miles to meet 140 strangers in about 40 days. The goal is to show how online recommendations shape our...

The Core

There’s a new “tribe” of talented and exciting cinematographers that we’ve had the pleasure of experiencing via YouTube and other social networks.  We are not only entertained by these visual storytellers, but also inspired as marketers.  And while we may not always have a perfect fit or immediate need for these artists’ work, their work does leave a mark on ours in one way or another.  Connecting with your audiences visually is a powerful tool and the following three filmmakers have got this skill DOWN.  We’d like to introduce a collection of FRESH filmmakers! Arthur Ircink...

DAY 2

DAY 2

I’m told this is Day Two. It feels a lot like day one; very little sleep, and I got beat up a bit. I blame the lack of sleep on Vegas, and also @mcgregormt, who asked me to livetweet the Prime Minister’s Questions at 4 am this morning on C-SPAN2. As far as I could tell (mind you I was sleep-deprived), this weekly event consists of the Prime Minister getting sassy, while the people across the aisle yell at him about everything that’s wrong with the UK. I learned a lot in 30 minutes. I will now share this knowledge with you: Things I Learned by Livetweeting the Prime...

DAY 1

It’s finally here, you guys. DAY ONE. After all the planning and the coffee and the tweeting and the Call Me Maybe and the production meetings…it’s really happening. We’re hitting the road. Over the past two months, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to explain to people what I’m doing. “I’m driving around the country, meeting the people I follow on Twitter.” “I’m spending a month travelling the country, meeting strangers that other strangers told me I should follow.” “I’m making a movie about the real-life...

#FF the Team

Whether or not we’re ready (and we aren’t), the road trip begins tomorrow. @Audi and team delivered Maeby (the official Follow Friday the Film name for our generously loaned A3 TDI) this morning, and since then we’ve been busy gossiping about everyone on Twitter. Er, I mean, packing. Before we take off, we wanted to introduce the whole team. Follow Friday the Film has come together incredibly quickly thanks in large part to the awesome group working on it all hours of the day. Road-trippers: Erin Faulk, Director, @erinscafe: the over-caffeinated brains behind the operation. Erin is...

Fueled by Fresh

By now, most of you have heard the exciting news that Audi has given us a car. What you probably don’t know is that by sponsoring Follow Friday the Film, they’re in good company (Yes, that was a pun about companies. I’m sorry, I’m not sleeping much lately.) During our 30-day Kickstarter fundraising, we were fortunate enough to be backed by some incredible fresh food companies – and we couldn’t be more excited! Just like many of you, they donated through the Kickstarter site when our film was just an idea. Now, they’re going above and beyond, and...
